Hydraulic cylinders for S-valve shifting provide the function of S-valve movement during the process of pumping. The rotational movement of the S-valve is executed by the swing lever assembled on the S-valve drive shaft. In most of the concrete pumps the design of the S-valve drive is based on two hydraulic cylinders. One of the exeptions is the SCHWING pump as well as the IMER / L&T mixerpump.
Due to specific conditions and dynamics in the S-valve drive the structure of the cylinders require damping of the piston bumping the cylinder bottom. The common type of the S-valve cylinder is the plunger type. In these cylinders due to the large number of cycles the most frequently exchanged are the seal kits. Piston rods are often damaged by mechanical external factors.
