Turning is a machining process – chipping method involving turning tools which cut a desired shaped workpiece from raw material that rotates in a chuck of a lathe. Turning thanks to 3-axial movement of cutting tools allows to produce any simple and complex shapes of rotate elements. This machining method can be divided into the external turning and internal turning. As well as into the conventional and CNC turning (controlled by automation of Computer Numerical Control). The conventional standard lathes that company have allow the execution of turned parts with the following parameters:
- maximum turning diameter: SHAFT up to Φ 500mm over the bed, COLLAR shaped items: up to Φ 600mm;
- maximum turning lenght: 2000mm;
- maximum weight of machined detail (by means of live center): 800 kg;
wereas heavy duty conventional lathes allow the execution of parts with the following parameters:
- maximum turning diameter: SHAFT up to Φ 800mm over the bed, COLLAR shaped items: up to Φ 900mm;
- maximum turning lenght: 3000mm
- maximum weight of machined detail (by means of live center): 3000 kg.
CNC turning is a more precise and highly efficient machining technology thanks to it’s computer control for the tool-headstock (or headstocks) as well as for the spindle. That allows to obtain much precise turning parameters, high tolerance classes on the workpieces and what is also important – repeatability for large series of elements. POLMIX-AST Company operates with various CNC turning centres which allow to machine workpieces of steel, amuminium, cast alloys and also plastics having the following geometrical parameters:
